Memorial Graduates

ATTENTION!

This Academic Dress rental service is intended for Memorial University students who have already applied to graduate, and who are in the process of registering to attend the Convocation ceremony to which they have been pre-assigned.

The information that follows is related to your academic dress order only which is subject to confirmation of final graduation eligibility by the University. Questions regarding final graduation eligibility status should be directed to the Office of the Registrar at Memorial University ( [email protected]).

If your eligibility status for graduation is still pending at this time, you SHOULD submit your academic dress rental request; however, it will be subject to confirmation of final graduation eligibility by the university. If you are subsequently deemed ineligible for graduation at this session of convocation, arrangements will be made for a refund of the academic dress rental fee.

RENTAL INSTRUCTIONS

Please make sure you have your credit card, student ID and have confirmed your ceremony and degree.

You will receive two emails once your rental is complete.

1. The first will be from Gaspard. This contains payment information. If you have used a credit card other than your own, it will show on this confirmation.

2. The second will be from Build-A-Grad. This confirmation contains all the necessary details regarding your rental, shipping details, rental return instructions, order number and amount paid if applicable.

YOU MUST RETURN TO MEMORIAL SELF SERVICE AND ENTER THE ACADEMIC DRESS RENTAL CODE TO COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION TO ATTEND CONVOCATION.

Please use your university assigned e-mail when renting your Academic Dress.

PRICE

$50.00 (Package includes Rental Gown, Rental Hood, Souvenir Cap & Tassel)

On Site Fee: $80.00 cash, credit card, or debit payment option (rental includes gown, hood cap and tassel). Please note that we cannot guarantee your specific academic gown size and hood colour on site. The cap and tassel are yours to keep. Doctoral graduates must return all items.

REGALIA PICK-UP AND RETURN DETAILS

Corner Brook Convocation Ceremonies:

Academic dress can be picked up at the Arts and Culture Centre, Corner Brook, on Wed., May 14, 11 am – 3 pm or one hour prior to your Convocation ceremony.

Rental Regalia Return Instructions: Academic dress must be returned before you leave the Arts and Culture Centre. There will be an attendant in the lobby to collect your hood and gown. The mortarboard cap is yours to keep, however the PhD bonnet must be returned following your session of Convocation.

Academic dress that is not returned immediately after the ceremony will be the responsibility of the graduate to return to the vendor's warehouse in Montreal.


St. John's Convocation Ceremonies:

Academic dress can be picked up at the Arts and Culture Centre, St. John’s, one hour prior to your Convocation ceremony.

Rental Regalia Return Instructions: Academic dress must be returned before you leave the Arts and Culture Centre. There will be an attendant outside of the gown room to collect your hood and gown. The mortarboard cap is yours to keep, however the PhD bonnet must be returned following your session of Convocation.

Academic dress that is not returned immediately after the ceremony will be the responsibility of the graduate to return to the vendor's warehouse in Montreal.



Important:

Gaspard has scanned your rental items to your student ID. All rental regalia must be returned after your event. Unreturned items will be reported to your University or College and you will be charged for the regalia up to $800 depending on your degree.

CANCELLATIONS

Corner Brook: All cancellation requests must be received before April, 23, 2025 at 11:59 pm. Refunds will not be accepted after.

St. John’s: All cancellation requests must be received before May 6, 2025 at 11:59 pm. Refunds will not be accepted after.
